Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas, Nevada
Where Pleistocene strata
Are heaved against tons of red clay
There human invention
Demands our attention
And sparkles in endless display
It's Egypt, no, Paris!
Indeed? You'd embarrass the French.
But glistening casinos
Engage us in neon suspense!
Where once in the desert
The giants were reptiles
Who lumbered through eons of time
Today in the city
The giants are petty
Facades
Playing gods for a dime.
